Hitting the slopes!

Snow building up on the trees!
Time for some fun on the slopes. We decided to take a few days and head up the the condos and do a little skiing and snowboarding. We thought we'd see if our youngest would like skiing but we found out he's not ready, couldn't even get the ski boots on his feet. He just likes playing in the snow and trying to hit everyone with snowballs. Several of the kids decided they wanted to try snowboarding again this year. A few had tried last year, one time, but they didn't get very long to build up their skills. Their father and I are skiers only, so we couldn't help. We really appreciate the rentals that we got from Ski Celebrations and that they allowed the ones that wanted to, to trade in their snowboards for skis. Two of my girls, stuck it out the whole time and got better and started staying up right more often than finding themselves laying on the slopes. :) They were even able to make it up the very top of the mountain! So proud of them sticking it out and learning a new skill! Fun in the snow, right off  I-77, no need to travel for hours on bad roads. Winterplace has great slopes, right here in Southern West Virginia. We really enjoyed getting to play in the snow, they work hard to make snow for us to play on. We've included some funny pictures of how the snow was building up on the trees and even the light poles around the resort. It was a great week to come skiing!
More build up we saw while night skiing
Crazy ice on our car antenna the morning we left.

Getting to know us and what we love!

This is from a few years ago at Pipestem

We have decided to start this blog as a place to show some of the fun that can be had here in West Virginia. My husband and myself grew up in West Virginia and had to leave for almost 10 years. Then we had the opportunity to bring our family back here to the place we loved as children. There is so much great fun to be had exploring all the natural beauty that WV has to offer. and some of the man made stuff as well. We have enjoyed going camping, hiking, sight seeing and playing on the water for years now with our kids. We have 5 kids ranging in age from 19 years down to 2 years old. So it's always interesting when we get to go out and play together and of course a little crazy. We hope we can share some of our old favorite places and find some new places to help people see how great this state can be. Please feel free to contact us with any places or events you'd like for us to cover. Hope you all have a wonderful 2019!!
